This family-owned fruit and vegetable market is one of the first places in Senigallia that  I shopped for produce. Diana and Rafael are the friendly proprietors. They offer the freshest seasonal and locally grown fruits and vegetables. They also have some cheese and prepared food like salads, side dishes and chopped vegetables ready to use in your recipe.

Whenever possible shop for produce from local businesses selling food grown on small local farms. Shopping for local produce not only helps the local economy but adds to the diversity of our food system.

When we buy from local farmers, our money stays within the community supporting small businesses. This economic support helps rural areas thrive and sustains the livelihoods of farmers who are often under pressure from large-scale industrial agriculture.

Local farmers are key stewards of plant diversity. They often grow a wider variety of crops, including native and heirloom species, which helps preserve genetic diversity and protects against the risks of monoculture, such as disease and climate vulnerability.

Diverse plant communities not only enrich the soil and ecosystem but also provide ... the best tomatoes!

It's important to have a wide variety of seeds and produce to ensure food security and resilience for future generations. Plus fresh fruit and vegetables are wonderful.
