A long lunch is a welcome tradition in Italy. Outside the crowded tourist areas, shops tend to close for lunch between 1:00 and 3:00 pm (13:00-15:00). Restaurants remain open to serve everyone, and a few offer a prix fixe meal along with the regular menu.
Many restaurants are family-owned and operated, like Trattoria Della Fortuna. They offer a prix fixe lunch they call the Worker's lunch .
Trattoria Della Fortuna is tucked away in a castle of Jesi and is well known to locals. I was
lucky enough to be traveling with tour guides (Cathy and Enrico at Solebello) who knew about this gem. The meal included wine, bottled water, antipasto, prima, second dish, dessert, Italian coffee, and Limoncello for 15 euros ($18).
The price of food is so reasonable at the grocery stores and in restaurants. And there is no tipping, as servers are typically salaried.
The older gentleman in the photos was the owner. He has now retired. He was lovely and clearly enjoyed his work while he talked with us about life and family. They served fantastic mushroom ravioli!

I love these pasta bowls.
These are nice pasta bowls, too.

It doesn’t raise the price for you but it sort of helps me augment my retirement, about 50 cents at a time. 😂 Thank you! ❤️

Beautiful pictures!
